Yes, I believe the tab on the one side is to clamp the cables in place, not mount to the case.
On a different note, I see you installed turbo valve covers on the exhausts. If you ever plan to check/adjust the valves with the engine in the car (and bolted up) you need to mill/shave some of the fins around a couple bolts. Otherwise they won't clear the trailing arm frame mounts. There are a couple threads about it. Ask me how I know.. |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) why would want to solid mount to the HX on to the case ? but why it perfectly lines up on that case stub has got me baffled ??? . Pretty sure OP knows about the lower rocker covers ,cheers. |

Terry are you still having the debate on the heat exchangers? Just one tab on that side and then the z bracket on the other side Yes kind of……..not sure I know what you mean on Z bracket….i see a bracket on outboard side and assume it must attach to something. On valve covers ……will be changed before installing in the car…..but have a set of original look alikes ( SC) that are aluminum and purportedly won’t leak. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) vs magnesium originals. Now to find them. |

The mag ones on my motor were very warped ....some clown had installed 2 thick gaskets to stop the leaks then wound them up real tight (IMG:style_emoticons/default/slap.gif) . Glued some sandpaper on to a sheet of thick glass and resurfaced then which took a lot, refitted them with beaded VR gaskets and they only lasted around 300 miles and started weeping, shortly after they started dripping . Purchased a set 930 covers , checked them and both benefitted from a resurface but not a lot on one but the other required a fair bit of work , IMO the worst of the 2 would have leaked otherwise. Cheers. |

The tab on the passenger box has two functions, it keeps the box from rattling
and provides attachment to keep the cables from drooping. On the drivers side there is a small leg from the box to the forward exhaust stud to keep the box from rattling, another bracket on the outside top surface is used with a Norma hose clamp to keep the oil hose from contacting the heater box. IT can be seen in 'six addicts' bottom three pics. |

Sorry to belabor this but trying to determine where or what this one attaches to. Circled in red. ![]() Hoping this is final question. Thanks Nick Final answer. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) That bracket is on the drivers HE on the top surface of the heater box. It keeps the oil cooler hose from resting on the heater box. It works with a 30mm clamp as pictured. It's the hose that goes from oil cooler to oil tank. Attached thumbnail(s) ![]() |
